Nicely written, although there seem to be several competing theses here.

I agree with you that the existing laws are probably counterproductive, but I don’t really know how else to address the problem, or even if it’s enough of a problem that it needs addressing.

It's admittedly intended to be a bit of an offbeat take. Porn is definitely not the most important front in this morality offensive against all things sex. These have all been covered extensively, from marriage equality on the chopping block, to reproductive rights, to basic medically sound sex ed. But it's the same beast: people who are uncomfortable with other's sexuality, possibly uncomfortable with their own, and they find catharsis in trying to legislate it away in a fashion that does little but restrict personal freedom.

These folks are highly motivated and oddly specific, presumably because they haven't jerked off in 20 years, and I just presume ultra conservative sex is seldom, brief and bland. But I'm not offended that Jerry Falwell Jr. has a cuck kink. I'm offended that he is so vocally anti-sex and an obvious hypocrite. Also for their own sake, the ultra conservative could probably be having way better sex and be way more satisfied in their relationships if they just shut the hell up and enjoy being human.
